Make your part of the world beautiful.
The world is too vast for any one of us to hold. But each of us carries a part of it: our thoughts, our homes, our surroundings, our language, our people. If we shape that part with care, it matters. Even the smallest act, a gesture of order, a word written with intention, can change the world because it changes the part that belongs to us.
I learned this from my mentor, Manoj Matthai, during my time at Breakthrough. He once said, We are making great changes to this part of the world. That shift, from thinking about the whole world to this part of the world, freed me. It showed me that beauty and change begin close to home, in what is immediate and tangible, and then ripple outward.
I prefer to stay in the background rather than in the spotlight. I try to express more strongly through my work than I ever could in words. Calligraphy became my way of expression. I don’t write to be read, I write to express. Letterforms become gestures, rhythms, marks of thought. My logo, an abstract form of MEE taken from my name, SUMEESH, carries the same spirit. It reminds me to keep shaping me beautifully — in my thoughts, my actions, and the part of the world I hold.
